50 years ago, a little band from Detroit bent the blues in such a way that Rock-and-roll would be forever changed. The Stooges took everything traditional about the Blues and Rock and Roll, twisted it up, distorted it, bent it and mashed it up in a way that would not be recognizable to some and be life changing to others. On June 21st, 2007, I was fortunate to be able to speak with Iggy Pop and Ron Asheton. Ron jumped in a little later and they spoke about their new, at the time, record, The Weirdness. We spoke about a few other aspects of the band including Bam Margera’s wedding. Ron and Iggy seemed content with where the Stooges were in 2007. This interview originally appeared on WMMR’s website in 2007. Thank you for taking the time to listen.
